National Minimum and Living Wage increase

From 1st April 2021 the Nations Living and Minimum wage is rising, the living wage will also apply to those aged 23 and 24.

The below rates are for the National Living Wage (employees aged 23+) and the National Minimum Wage (employees of at least school leaving age).

23 and over: £8.91

21 to 22: £8.36

18 to 20: £6.56

Under 18: £4.62

Apprentice: £4.30


Who gets the apprentice rate?

You're entitled to the apprentice rate if you're an apprentice aged:

  • under 19
  • 19 or over, and in the first year of your current apprenticeship agreement

If you're 19 or over and have completed the first year of your current apprenticeship, you're entitled to the minimum wage for your age.
